The whole document can be viewed here: https://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Documents/acs/sia-acs-guide-to-buying.pdf.

There are a number of things to consider when thinking about appointing a security provider and the Security Industry Authority (SIA) has some interesting suggestions such as:

The importance of choosing an Approved Contractor company:

“ACS companies are rigorously assessed against over 80 performance indicators across nine essential criteria.”

Choosing security on cost alone is a risk:

“Buying cut price security may be appealing at the time but consider the possible consequences. Your brand could be at risk if you buy low quality security that goes wrong…If your security supplier provides very low hourly rates for provision of security, this could be an indication of legal requirements being breached”

Is it too good to be true?

“Does the company website check out? Independently verify all accreditation marks and testimonials…Who do the security operatives believe they work for?”
